London Fashion Week S/S 2015 Highlights

TULLE, SUSTAINABILITY, AND SNEAKERS, OH MY.
London Fashion Week had everything you could ever hope for and more.

DAY ONE: SEPTEMBER 12, 2014

Wool and the Gang: Inside Somerset house merging talents are creating sustainable, warm and fashionable wool garments. Handmade knitwear that is innovative and sustainable is exactly what were going to need in the coming months.

DAY TWO: September 13, 2014

Hunter: If you're like me you love a cool, rainy fall day as an excuse to wear your Hunter boots (not like you need one), but Hunter is expanding itself, and trying to make the brand be something else besides the heartwarming rain boot. The Hunter show featured a four sided screen, with water and fish swimming about. Hunter explored colourful RTW, along with "dazzle"which is used to hide navy ships from satellite photography (but is extremely gorgeous), and new types of waterproof purses and shoes, such as oxfords.

DAY THREE: September 14, 2014

Preen: With their feminine dresses and fashion forward designs, the bright patchwork, designs and fringed skirts and dresses were suitable for a fancy rave. The designers took inspiration from hip hop and Maasai Warriors cricket team. The outfits can easily go from day to night and can be used for all sorts of occasions.

DAY FOUR: September 15, 2014

Burberry Prorsum: The indigo jacket reimagined, what hasn't burberry done? Along with that, their solid white sneaker with a colour block stripe foamy sole debuted. Tulle dresses, twisted and tied around the waist, and sheer bodices to create the most beautiful gowns that take you into a different world.

DAY FIVE: September 16, 2014

TOP SHOP: Cara Delevingne lead the show with a translucent dress, sparkles, burgundy nails, reinvented ballerina shoes and a tule corsage. The glamour was at its peak. The show also introduced many colour blocking dresses for a more causal feeling.

For the next fourteen days we'll be spelling out "Winter Holidays", with a post for each letter directed toward what's to come in the industry, delighting in the already much awaited style of 2014.

Covent Garden, in the West End of London, is the charming location chosen for the launch of the Burberry Beauty Box. The boutique opened today, wrapping up a year of cosmetic concepts put forth by fashion houses with primp and prose that is, of course, trenched in the campaigned technological know-how of the British brand.

We've come to expect nothing less then a compilation of classicism and the contemporary and what is inside the "Box" is full of outside of the box thinking. The digital nail bar allows customers to self-match and try on tints of polish virtually, while Apple infused till-free systems will introduce shopping online in the environment "Runway Made-To-Order" following the houses' shows during London Fashion Week.

Men On The Move: Marc Jacobs and Christopher Bailey Take On New Directions

MARC JACOBS PRESENTING HIS FINAL COLLECTION FOR LV

Following a sweet sixteen years of monograms, multinational renown and Marc Jacobs' creative direction, French fashion house Louis Vuitton presented it's final collection by the designer. Jacobs leaves the position as head designer for the brand as he moves to focus on his own, expanding label. True to his often commemorative sentiment, the collection was influenced by representation of the designers past work for the house. Having brought a sense of collaboration and observant ascendency to the Louis Vuitton label, the attention to his eponymous brand will likely lead to even more of the Marc Jacobs' intentness that we fall for the thinking behind. The final collection show in Paris, can be viewed through the Fashion Channel.

Christopher Bailey assumes the role of Burberry's Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director, taking over the position from Angela Ahrendts. The designer has worked in creative for the brand since 2001, and at 42 years old is one of the youngest named heads of the 100 highest market capitalization companies listed on the London stock exchange. In an interview with the Daily Mail UK, Halifax-born Bailey says he is  "profoundly moved and humbled to be asked to take on the CEO role at this company that means so much to him," and that he "feels privileged to be keeping the role of chief creative officer, as he believes that creativity and innovation have been at the heart of Burberry's success in the last ten years and will be even more so in the decade ahead." (Ruth Styles, DailyMail UK). In his legacy with Burberry, Bailey has directed the label towards influential social media campaigns involving hosting previewed runway shows through their connected culture and developing mentorship programs for students of global fashion.

LFW: Burberry Prorsum

style.com
By: Julia Smith

“Trench Kisses: A Collection of Classics and Christine Keeler,” referring to the infamous model and showgirl who nearly brought down the British government in the 1963 Profumo affair. Said the designer about Burberry Prorsum FW2013 collection. With such an impactful inspiration to draw from, came very beautiful and demure pieces.

The show started with classic pieces, such as the trench, however adding rubber, cheetah and heart pattern trimmings, along with gold embellishments, with colours such as light beige, deep red and blue, then the pieces transitioned to more polished pieces with solid colours such as rich mustard. The prints then came back in full force, along with colour blocking, horizontal stripes as well as giraffe prints, then the pieces went back to demure and relaxed with rubber trimmings becoming more apparent in the décolletage, and in short waisted coats.

The show ended with chic knee-lenth evening dreses with gold embellishments at the neck. Overall the collection stayed true to the brands identity while still adding fun and young prints such as the hearts.
