Temperley London showed their Fall 2013
ready-to-wear collection, titled “Byrds,” this morning. Inspired by Melanie
Daniels, a character from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1963 horror flick “The
Birds,” the collection referenced 60’s glamour through swing coats, shift
dresses, A-line silhouettes and wide legged trousers.
The clothes were demure and lady-like with
hemlines reaching just above the knee. Details included sheer panels on
dresses, check prints and metallic thread. The colours were mostly neutral with
the occasional pop of turquoise, yellow or blue in a jewel tone. Models’ had
slick, sophisticated buns, winged eyeliner and each wore a pair of sky-high
platform pumps. White or black leather gloves and oversized cat-eye sunglasses
were seen throughout. The show came to a close with a parade of prim and
proper, floor sweeping gowns, embellished with silver and gold beads.
