LFW: Tom Ford

Tom Ford’s collection was a cornucopia of fabrics, textures, colours, styles, and cuts.  Globalization is for sure all around us, and Tom Ford is not one to let us forget it!  His immaculate collection breeds a new form of fashion.  Throughout the show, he brings us many pieces that we have probably all seen before, but puts them with the most unlikely of pairings, as well as putting them in total random order, which only enhanced the viewer’s excitement.  He went from a vampire-esque outfit with a high collar and fringe, to a full-on pink patchwork outfit.  He then sent down a few ensembles with very chic transparent shirts mixed with very bright skirts that looked like a grandmother had made them.  And of course with the matching boots.

Then everything together!  Zebra, leopard, stars, biker jackets mixed with harem pants, fur with velvet, Aztec prints, Japanese dresses with avant-garde sheer black tops, just a whole amalgamation of thoughts, ideas, cultures, and styles.  The models were definitely transformed into new beings (and even one zebra).  This collection would be the epitome of the current Zeitgeist, where almost anything goes.
