Etro’s interpretation
of the geometric shape and digital print trend we have seen on the Fall runways, was an older appeal and had a biker-meets-bohemian futuristic attitude. The collection focused on Etro’s signature paisley in a psychedelic pixelated
presentation, with magic eye motifs and mirror image patterns. Digitally
illustrated abstruse prints were still very much in a Shangri-La traveller
color palette made ultramodern by contrasting black sleeves and overlay shapes.
Neckline notches and side cutouts further added to the surrealist geometrical
effect of the garments. Motorcycle jackets, leather gloves, and alternating
styles of pointed toe ankle boots and pumps made the look radical with a rebelling
undertone. Mohair, silk, high collars and fur trims kept the design’s luxe, so perhaps Salvador Dali through a kaleidoscope meets Marty McFly and the Bauhaus
might yet work for the Milan crowd.
