Ralph Lauren finale at NYFW (vogue.fr) |
That’s a wrap on New York Fashion Week! The Fall 2013 shows
this season were impeccable! Many collections were based on the decades, from
the 50’s to the 90’s, we saw many designers draw inspiration from these times,
such as:
-
50’s (MM6)
-
60’s (Anna Sui and Calvin Klein)
-
70’s (Diane Von Furstenberg)
-
90’s (Ralph Lauren)
There were some other trends spotted on the runways. Leather
was really big as it has been for a while, with designers showing dresses made
fully of leather to little accent pieces sported on coats, shirts, pants, and
skirts. Fur was also big (hello Marc Jacobs!), as it is a quintessential piece
to any chic lady’s wardrobe during the chilly Winter months. As well, we saw
quite a few sheer pieces (obviously need a fur jacket over them when outside),
such as blouses with peek-a-boo spots, and ones with sheer full-sleeves (Tory
Burch helps us out here). We also were treated to a few men’s fashions during
these shows. Women have been a part of men’s shows for a while so it’s exciting
to see the reverse start trending.
‘Til next time New York, stay fresh.
Next stop, Londontown! Make sure to stay locked on Humber’s
Fashion Arts Student Blog for updates on all the best shows.
