It’s been said that the dragonfly symbolizes maturity, poise
and change. We’re not sure whether this was kept in mind when Thakoon featured
the dragonfly in many of his Fall 13 pieces, but these are the same words we
would use to describe the line. Simplistic yet striking, the outfits were an
array of modern elegance.
The dresses were cut with many hard angles, yet the
textures and colours kept them soft. Colours included creams, lavender, pinks
and blues. Belts were shown on many of the pieces as well, making the waistline
a large focal point of the collection. Another way he did this was through
peplum styles in his blazers, skirts and overcoats. Embellishments such as fur
scarves tied at, of course, the waist, made these classic creations something
we will be seeing on the best of the best in the streets of Manhattan.
