PFW: Balmain

“To be fair, anyone who shows up to a present-day Balmain show expecting subtlety or any variation on classic chic is begging for disappointment.” (WWD)

Tremendous silhouettes were the core of the collection. With overexcentuated shoulders, hips and sleeves making an appearance in the most dramatic way; metallics! Yes, metallics such as silver, pink and teal were all over the Balmain show, still in the classic quilted Balmain patterns. It was such a gust of fresh air, compared to the deep colours and soft textiles usually being used in the Fall/Winter collections, Balmain reminds us why their house is one of the best! And the Zeplin music, couldn’t have made it any more young and fresh!

With metallic pieces, leather adding sharpness, as well as the sharp silhouette’s and suede and silk bringing the clothing a little softer, there wasn’t something the collection missed. However, we are always surprised at a Balmain show!
