There was something very dark and mysterious about the Fall
2013 John Galliano collection. Perhaps it was the venue of choice; the very
beautiful and full of character Le Centorial building, but this was no ordinary
show. The models took the runway with dramatic make up and elegantly knotted
chignons. The pieces were true art forms, with deep tones including purple,
black and navy.
One popular colour scheme involved cobalt blue and magenta
ombre. Many featured bell sleeves, with little focus on the female silhouette
and instead a wide straight look. Outfits were very often two pieced, with one
in particular featuring a beautiful fur pullover short sleeve over a maxi
dress. The rest of the collection offered many heavy textiles and textures
shown in wool jackets, paired with pencil skirts. Overall the collection was
stunning, truly telling a story of character and depth.
