There was boldness in an elegant
simplicity and asymmetry executed by Maria Grachvogel’s Fall 2013 collection.
The looks were impeccably draped and soft edged yet geometric in a way that
accentuated a strong monochromatic choice in color. Marigold, oxblood, royal
blue and bottle green dresses were slouchy and columnar with abstract necklines
and eastern influenced structure.
Artistic black and sepia prints with cracked ice
and barren tree motifs moved easily within the sophistication of the line, becoming
further refined through gathering and high-low grazing hemlines. Jacquard
floral, peplums and fur gave poise to boxy silhouettes that were contemporarily
paired with platform ankle boots in solids and mirroring prints. The
interpretation of the season was aesthetically creative while graceful and
poetic leaving us with the feeling that the designer had both savoir-faire and
ease in being as transcendent as winter.
