LFW: Moschino Cheap and Chic

Designer Rossella Jardini’s applied a wash of eighties goth culture to the Moschino Cheap and Chic Fall 2013 collection, which resembled a halfway revival of more signature vintage fashion pieces. There was a certain contrast in nostalgias, somewhere between structure, sweetness and subversion. Model’s looks were paired with “creeper” style platforms and bondage-y leg straps borrowed from their Pre Fall collection.

Oversized faux fur silhouettes in fuchsia, powder pink, black and white appeared between power suits, crewnecks, mod shift and bubble skirted mini dresses in the color palette. A reoccurring script print textile was used in a number of the collection pieces both as a large graphic and more subtly with pin size polka dots. The samplings of leopard, lace, black lipstick and studded chokers mid-show were offset by quirkiness to combinations and attention to detail that is definitively C&C and kept the collection from being paled by punk’s past.
