Menswear inspired looks ruled Giorgio
Armani’s Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection, which showed earlier today. The
collection was titled “Garçonne” and featured a wide array of androgynous
pieces such as loose, cropped trousers, fitted jackets with baubley buttons,
loafers, oxfords and lots of suspenders.
The boyish feel of the show was subdued by
the palette of black, white, and light greys, purples and blues. Materials used
were primarily luxurious and soft, reflecting the underlying femininity of the
clothes, including velvet, silk, leather detailing and furs. Each of the models
wore a black bob wig with blunt bangs peeking out from underneath a slouchy
black velvet hat. Silver thread, embellishments and details added a hint of
glamour to the otherwise minimal pieces. The collection, which consisted of 84
looks, came to a close with a parade of floor-length, avant-garde ensembles
that reflected Giorgio Armani’s eye for subtle, but incredibly elegant detail.
