Young
Turkish design house Hakaan’s collection was the one we have been holding our
breath for over the course of Paris Fashion Week. With much ado surrounding his
previous season’s cancelled show there was a comeback element to Fall 2013 that
demanded tailoring, futurism and aggression beyond what we have seen from his
experimental portfolio.
The look was as black and white as you can get: body
conscious and architectural as a series of highly constructed hourglass evening
gowns, peplums and trousers. The sharp edged geometric neckline, power-mesh
cutouts and leather approached a Bond girl styled to step out of an Aston
Martin which may have been a more subtle effect to the future a la mode. High-slit satin, ostrich feathers, pieced slip
dresses, pointed toe pumps and lipstick red furthered the opulent feel with
immoderation. Hakaan, nevertheless, captured luxuriousness and hedonism with allure
and female guile from Paris, with love.
